The Ikenobo Ikebana Society of Texas and the Ikebana International Houston, Texas Chapter #12 presents the 2026 Ikenobo Visiting Professor’s Demonstration by Ms. Mizukako Arashi. Join us to experience Ikebana “Kado”, which was designated as the Intangible Cultural Property in 2024.

Ms. Arashi is the Visiting Professor from the Ikenobo Headquarters in Kyoto, Japan. She began studying Ikebana at the age of 10 under the influence of her mother. She received her Signboard (teaching qualification) at the age of 17 and opened her own Ikebana studio at 24, where she continues to teach today. Her experience teaching at an international reaserchers’ residence led to opportunities to instruct Miss International delegates from around the world, conduct workshops overseas, and teach international visitors to Japan. To date, she has taught students from more than 70 countries. She has also introduced Ikebana to more than 1,000 elementary school children through hands-on workshops. In addition, she is active in outdoor Ikebana projects and creative works inspired by the world of picture books, having contributed to more than 300 floral installations and artworks. She currently teaches at four locations, including two in Tokyo and others in Chiba.
