Set during the turbulent Sengoku period, The Samurai and the Prisoner follows the rebellious Lord Murashige Araki as he finds himself trapped inside his own castle by a powerful invading army. When a series of bizarre and unexplainable murders occurs within the fortress walls, desperation forces him to turn to Kanbei Kuroda, a brilliant strategist whom Murashige keeps locked in his dungeon. What follows is a tense, claustrophobic psychological thriller where a captor and his captive must engage in a high-stakes battle of wits to uncover a hidden traitor before the castle falls.
