Welcoming Consul General Takeshi Koyama and Mrs. Rie Koyama to Houston

Houston, TX — April 27, 2026 — JASH was honored to welcome Consul General Takeshi Koyama and Mrs. Rie Koyama to Houston at a special reception hosted for members of the JASH Board of Directors and community partners last week. The gathering brought together distinguished leaders from the business, education, and arts communities in celebration of the longstanding and dynamic relationship between Japan and Houston.

The evening served as an opportunity to extend a warm Texas welcome to Consul General Koyama as he begins his tenure in Houston and to reaffirm the deep people-to-people, cultural, and economic ties that continue to strengthen the U.S.-Japan partnership. The reception also reflected Houston’s growing role as a global center for international commerce, innovation, and cross-cultural exchange.

Consul General Koyama arrives in Houston following more than three decades of distinguished service with Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Throughout his diplomatic career, he has held leadership roles focused on international economic policy and global cooperation, bringing extensive experience and insight at a pivotal moment in Houston’s expanding engagement with Japan and the international community.

JASH looks forward to working closely with Consul General Koyama and Mrs. Koyama in the years ahead to further strengthen educational, cultural, and business ties between Japan and Greater Houston, and to the many collaborations and friendships that will emerge from this important partnership.
